One of the big hitters from Big Sky Country will be back for Speedweek Northwest. Phil Dietz, of the Billings, Montana area, has been pretty fast in local competition. He will look to carry that momentum over for the whole week.

“We're off to a good start,” commented Dietz, “we haven't been out of the top four in the last eight races. We seem to be rolling along real good.”

Phil has recorded one win in 2015 and that was at Electric City Speedway in Great Falls on June 19th. Dietz has won his fair share of titles over the years including championships with the Montana Sprint Tour, Big Sky Sprint Tour, and the American Sprint Car Series-Frontier Region and in 2013 won the Dan Laber Memorial. The driver of the Prevost Racing/Dietz Auto Inc./Pacific Recycling/Staley's Automotive/Kaeding Performance/Maxim Chassis/Kistler Racing Engines/Factory Kahne Shocks/Keizer Racing Wheels #72 Maxim will be making his second career Speedweek Northwest.

“Our goal is to make every main event and maybe get a top five,” he would continue to say, “Last year was the first time running the whole deal and I really didn't know what to expect. But this year we've got some good base notes and I'm really looking forward to Yreka that track is the most fun I've had at.”

The Western Sprint Tour sanctioned Speedweek Northwest begins at Yreka, California's Siskiyou Motor Speedway on Sunday June 28th and will conclude with the $5000.00 to win finale at Cottage Grove Speedway on Saturday July 4th. The best 360 Sprint drivers in the Western United States will race six events in seven nights at some of the best tracks in the country.

In the seventeen years Speedweek Northwest there have been ten different champions. Steve Kent and Roger Crockett are tied with four apiece while Brent Kaeding has two. Seven drivers have won the entire kit and caboodle just once which is a very impressive list of winners. That list includes Brad Furr, Jesse Hockett, Bud Kaeding, Kyle Larson, Shane Stewart, Mitch Olson, and in 2014 Kyle Hirst.

The Western Sprint Tour is the Pacific Northwest region's most premier touring 360 Sprint car series. Visiting some of the nation's best facilities it is a series that offers some of the best racing you can find anywhere around.
